VibeCFO vs Claude.
Claude is a superb general assistant, and pointed at an export or an MCP it answers financial questions well. VibeCFO is what you choose when the answer has to come from live, reconciled, row-level data - governed by row-level security, running on a schedule, across one business or hundreds of client entities. And you can keep Claude: the VibeCFO MCP points it at your own governed data.
Breadth and reasoning, for one person and one question. For a one-off analysis of an export, drafting a board narrative, or thinking a decision through, it is excellent and cheap - and no finance platform matches it as a general thinking partner.
It has no pipeline. An uploaded export is stale the moment it is made, it is one system rather than your ledger joined to your roster and job system, and nothing reconciles it against the source. There is no row-level security separating staff or clients, no standing instructions running while you sleep, and a conversation's understanding of your business resets when the conversation does.
The same eleven questions we ask of everyone.
Graded by who does the work, not by who could theoretically manage it. The bottom row goes against us, because it is true.

VibeCFO and Claude, answered.
What is the difference between VibeCFO and Claude?
Claude is a superb general assistant, and pointed at an export or an MCP it answers financial questions well. VibeCFO is what you choose when the answer has to come from live, reconciled, row-level data - governed by row-level security, running on a schedule, across one business or hundreds of client entities. And you can keep Claude: the VibeCFO MCP points it at your own governed data.
Can Claude analyse my Xero data?
Yes, if you get the data to it - an export, a CSV, or an MCP connection. What it analyses is a snapshot: nothing refreshes on a schedule, nothing is reconciled against the source, and the answer is only as current as the last upload.
Why use VibeCFO instead of just using Claude?
Because the hard part is not the reasoning, it is the data underneath it. VibeCFO maintains the pipelines into your ledger and the operational systems around it, reconciles them into a database you own, applies row-level security before any question runs, and keeps standing instructions running unattended. Claude cannot hold any of that up on its own.
Can I use Claude and VibeCFO together?
Yes, and plenty of people do. The VibeCFO MCP is a server we host that lets Claude read your own VibeCFO data - live, governed by the same row-level rules, read-only. You keep the assistant you like and gain a warehouse somebody else keeps alive.
Is it safe to give a general assistant my financial data?
That depends on the path the data takes. Pasting exports into a chat leaves governance behind - there is no row-level security on a spreadsheet. Through the VibeCFO MCP, Claude sees exactly what your login can see and nothing more, and every call is logged.
Others people weigh against us the same way.
