What is the best alternative to Fathom or Spotlight?
It depends what you are missing. If you want a polished pack off your ledger and nothing more, they are proven. If you need your job system, roster, stock or ecommerce read alongside the ledger - none of which they connect - that is what VibeCFO does differently.
Can I just build this myself with Claude or Lovable?
For one ledger and one willing person, genuinely yes, and cheaply. It stops being cheap when you want a second system joined to the first, staff and clients kept apart at row level, work that runs itself, and all of it still standing in eighteen months without you maintaining it.
Do Fathom, Spotlight, Syft or Futrli connect operational systems?
No. All four connect accounting ledgers - Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB and Sage between them - and none names a job system, rostering platform, stock system or point of sale. This was checked against their own marketing sites in August 2026.
Is VibeCFO cheaper than the off-the-shelf report writers?
