How EVA Compares

One Platform.
Every Tool You Need.

EVA doesn't replace the tools you love. She connects them, learns from them, and makes them work together. See how she stacks up against everything else on the market.

At a Glance

EVA vs the entire market — all in one table

Note: XPM Dash & Link covers Dashboard Insights and Link Reporting — both focus on accounting firm practice management (XPM, Karbon, WorkflowMax). ETL SyncHub is a data pipeline that feeds AI and BI tools. Included here because firms evaluating EVA often compare against them on budget, even though the job-to-be-done differs.

AI & Intelligence

EVA vs Anthropic (Claude)

Same AI engine. Completely different platform.

EVA is Anthropic's Claude running through VibeCFO and AWS — but with everything a CFO actually needs built on top. CFOs dumping CSVs into Claude get a one-off React artifact. Next month, they're doing it again. EVA uses the same AI but connects your data daily, saves reports, sets alerts, and builds knowledge over time.

Anthropic now allows connections via MCP and has released Claude for Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook — sidebar AI that reads your workbook, debugs formulas, and builds models on the fly. They've also launched finance-specific agents (May 2026). Powerful for one-off analysis. But Claude doesn't know what your chart of accounts is, doesn't connect to your live systems, and forgets every conversation. EVA wraps the same underlying intelligence in a platform that learns your business.

The bottom line: You're not missing out on Anthropic — we're using it. The difference is EVA wraps Claude in infrastructure that makes it actually useful for financial work: live data, saved reports, client segmentation, row-level security, and a knowledge graph that gets stronger the longer you use it.

Speed & Skills

EVA vs Power BI & Excel

Hours of setup vs seconds. DAX vs plain English.

There's no question about the undeniable flexibility and power of Excel and Power BI. You can granularly write formulas, manually edit and change things — they live in our world and continue to be extremely useful. But EVA overlaps with many of their use cases — and wins on two things: speed and skills.

To do something in Power BI or Excel can take a large amount of time when a simple question to EVA will reproduce the same outcome. Power BI and Excel are technically challenging and broad products which need skills to use. EVA you just type, ask and learn. Power BI Copilot has come a long way — it'll generate DAX, build visuals, and suggest measures from plain English once your semantic model is built. The unsolved problem is the model itself. EVA gives you the same conversational interface without the months of upstream modelling, DAX expertise, and Microsoft Fabric licensing.

We're not saying you can't use them. VibeCFO has Power BI and Excel add-ons. We have a central database that feeds EVA, Power BI, and Excel from the same clean data. We're asking you to work smarter — respecting your time and resources, and knowing when to use which tool.

Changing of the Guard

EVA vs Spotlight, Fathom & Futrli

Template reporting is disappearing.

These tools spit out pre-built templates from financial data only (Xero/QBO/MYOB). They're inflexible but easy. They also have quite useful and powerful cashflow forecasting tools. Fathom's Commentary Writer is well-engineered — symbolic attribution traces every figure back to source, multi-level context shapes each report, and a prompt library lets you save templates. Spotlight's AI Suggestions generates and enhances Executive Summary content. Futrli uses AI for predictive forecasting, not commentary. All three are real investments. But none of them are conversational AI. Fathom explicitly tells you its Commentary Writer is not a chatbot, doesn't retain chat history, can't see transaction-level data, and can't reach outside the report you're looking at. EVA is the conversation layer with persistent memory; theirs are commentary generators.

But this is the changing of the guard. That reporting IP is disappearing. With EVA's screenshot replica feature, you can screenshot and recreate anything on the market — that special board report or dashboard you previously had is no longer a challenge to recreate elsewhere. The real value now comes from AI building its knowledge and understanding about your business to push you on what you should be paying attention to.

Unlike Spotlight and Fathom, EVA connects 50+ data sources — not just financial data. You get the flexibility to ask anything in plain text and get what you need, not just what a template allows.

The bottom line: Template reporting was great for its time. But when AI can recreate any report from a screenshot and then actually understand what it means for your business, the value shifts from "what report can I generate" to "what should I be paying attention to right now."

Stop Comparing. Start Operating.

EVA isn't a replacement for your tools. She's the layer that makes them all work together — and makes the ones you don't need obsolete.
